EXCURSIONS
ESE: 1101 NAIROBI CITY TOUR (4 HRS)
This short tour takes you around the city and gives you a short history of our country and capital city.
The tour covers the National museums of Kenya and the adjacent snake park, railway museum which exhibits the ancient steam locomotives used in the 19th century.
Also exhibited is the locomotive in which Superintendent John Lyall was taken from by the man eating lions of Tsavo while he stalked them in 1901.
You will also visit the city center, parliament buildings and finally the architectural marvel; the Kenyatta international conference center.
ESE: 1102 NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK (4 HRS)
Situated only 7 kms from the city center, this park host a large array of animals including 4 of the big five. Also within the park boundaries is the animal orphanage, the safari walk and the David sheldrick wildlife trust renowned for its rehabilitation of orphaned Rhinos and Elephants which are later reintroduced back to the wild.
ESE: 1103 THIKA COFFEE FARM TOUR (½ DAY)
Kenya having been long recognized as of the producers of “….The world’s finest coffee…” this exiting and educative tour is designed to give you a taste of the process and an insight into the intricate processes used before coffee can be served at the table. Highlights of this tour are;
- Sample freshly ground and brewed AA coffee and fine Kenyan tea.
- Learn about coffee, its origin and history in Kenya
- Tour the coffee plantations as you learn stages of coffee growth and production.
- Visit a coffee pulping factory and the sun drying beds
- Learn how coffee is commercially roasted
- Participate in a traditional coffee roasting ceremony in an original farm house

ESE: 1104 THE CARNIVORE
Famous for its exotic and sumptuous dishes, this would be an ideal lunch or dinner destination to compliment the beginning or end of a great holiday experience.
The carnivore serves a wide variety of mouth watering game meat with vegetarian dishes also available.
The Simba Saloon at carnivore is also an ideal dancing location for those who would wish to while the night away.
ESE: 1105 KAREN BLIXEN & GIRAFFE CENTER (4 HRS)
This was once the farmhouse of the famous Karen Blixen famed for the movie “Out of Africa” which has since been turned into a museum. Conserved in the house are some of the furniture and her belongings.
Further on, you will have a chance of visiting the Giraffe center where you get to interact one on one with the Rothschild giraffe, an endangered species. You view and feed these gentle creatures as you learn more about them and their history.
ESE: 1106 BOMAS OF KENYA (3HRS)
The Bomas of Kenya displays more about the tribes and cultures of Kenya. The word BOMAS meaning homesteads.
Here you get to see how the various tribes constructed their respective houses using locally available materials. Traditional dances and folklore music and songs are also performed to give you a better insight of the cultural history and ways of life for these tribes some of which are still in existence up to this very day.
ESE: 1107 LAKE NAIVASHA/HELLS GATE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you leave Nairobi and drive towards the rift valley for a brief stop over. Immerse yourself into this beautiful scenery with sweeping views of the kedong valley and Suswa plains and Mt.Longonot.
Later proceed for Lake Naivasha the highest of the rift valley lakes. With resident numerous bird species, and various mammal species, this lake is ideal for sight seeing and also rewarding for birdwatchers. You will have an optional boat ride which places a great opportunity to view the hippos from close quarters and other plains game from the crescent island.
As an option, you could also visit the nearby hells gate national park. The park is an important nesting site for the lammergeyer vulture.
ESE: 1108 MOUNTAINEERIG AT MOUNT LONGONOT
Early morning departure from Nairobi. You will head directly to the mountain base. Rising 2,776m above the sea level, this is an average mountain with well defined paths which makes it much easier to ascend.
After reaching the peak, you may opt to walk around the crater rim while sampling the breathtaking rift valley views from a vantage point. You will also have an arresting view of the nearby Lake Naivasha and the adjoining Lake Oloiden.
You will settle down for a picnic lunch after the trek as you catch some breath after this grueling walk.
After the picnic lunch and some refreshments, you start the descent slowly arriving at the mountain base late afternoon for your departure at leisure for Nairobi or an overnight stay at Lake Naivasha.
ESE: 1109 LAKE ELEMENTAITA
Distance 130 Km.
This is a small rift valley lake tucked between Lake Nakuru and Naivasha. This scenery in this area is breathtaking with splendid views of the lake teeming with birdlife. You can relax within the precincts of the lodge or opt for a horse ride within the yellow barked acacias or even for the sporty type, you can join for a game of golf in the Great Rift Valley lodge. Nature walks can also be organized as an optional activity.
ESE: 1110 LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
Distance 160 Kms.
After an early breakfast, you depart for the rift valley with a brief stop over for pictures and breathe taking scenic views. Later proceed passing through Naivasha town and the Lake Elementaita.
The animal and birdlife within this park is impressive. Dubbed an “Ornithological paradise” and declared a World heritage and Ramsar site (Zone for the protection of wetlands), this park would pose a challenge for the bird watcher. Here you have considerable chance of viewing the “Big five with the exception of the Elephant.
After lunch you will have a game drive en route as you start your journey back to the city where the excursion ends.
ESE: 1111 Hell’s Gate National Park
Distance 100kms
The dramatic landscape of Hell’s Gate offers a wonderful opportunity to see game on foot, mountain bike or in a vehicle. The variety of game most commonly seen within the park includes giraffe, zebra, buffalo and Thompson’s gazelle, however you may have the chance of the occasional spotting of Leopard and cheetah. You can trek a circuit through Hells Gate gorge with its sheer cliffs and the volcanic pinnacles of Fischer’s and central tower. Narrow canyons cut into the rock further ahead offer the opportunity of a very scenic walk. You can see the geothermal steam jets as you complete the circuit to Ol Karia gate.
ESE: 1112 SILOLE SANTUARY AND KITENGELA GLASS FACTORY
This would be an ideal outing for nature lovers. This sanctuary gives you a fantastic terrain, with mixtures of grasslands and deep stone gorges.
The Silole sanctuary was primarily started to protect the endangered African finfoot species which can be found along the dense riverine vegetation.
After a rewarding walk within the sanctuary, you may try a well deserved visit to the Kitengela glass factory and later proceed for lunch at a place of choice.
