Kitirua Plains Lodge offers a stylish, intimate and exclusive gateway to one of Africa’s most celebrated landscapes. The snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro rises in the distance and the expansive plains alive with its famed big herds of free ranging Elephants, which are one of the leading tourist attractions to Amboseli National Park.

At Kitirua Plains Lodge, organic curves, natural textures, and earth-colored finishes echo the contours of the terrain. The lodge is built using locally sourced raw materials in order to create harmony between lodge and surrounding landscape. The pool terrace nestles naturally into a wetland area, providing a peaceful vantage point for watching wildlife gather at dusk.

The lodge features 11 suites. Each of them has been cleverly crafted, with Mount Kilimanjaro perfectly framed so that you can enjoy unobstructed views from the comfort of your bed each morning.

As the day unfolds and the mountain retreats behind the clouds, you turn your attention to the open plains, where wildlife roam quietly across the ecosystem.

Amenities found in each suite at Kitirua Plains Lodge include a mini bar, tea & coffee station, air conditioning, overhead fan, mosquito net, indoor and outdoor showers, hair dryer and a bidet.

The lodge also has one family villa that links two luxurious bedrooms by an open-air dining courtyard, perfect for shared moments, private al fresco meals and sweeping views across the Amboseli plains.

When not enjoying your game drives, you can observe it from the serenity of your own shaded veranda.

The lodge also has a pool terrace that nestles naturally into a wetland area, providing a peaceful vantage point for watching wildlife gather to quench their thirst.

At Kitirua Plains Lodge, you will find an open-fronted bar and dining area, rich in pale wood and neutral tones and commanding sweeping views of the plains. On the dining side, you get a selection of fresh and flavorful international dishes, served with a touch of local flair at a table facing the panoramic terrace. On the other side, a handsome wooden bar occupies the central space. You can pull up a stool and swap stories of wildlife sightings, or take a sundowner as you toast to the surrounding natural beauty.

One of the advantages of staying in a private conservancy is that off road exploration, nature and walking safaris are allowed. You also get a rare opportunity to embark on a night game drive, with a chance of seeing Lion, Leopard, Serval Cat, Aardvark and other nocturnal animals emerge under the stars.

To get to Kitirua Plains Lodge, one can take a chartered or scheduled flight from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. The flight to Amboseli airstrip takes about 30 minutes followed by a 40 minutes’ drive to the lodge.
