Lemala Osonjoi opens its doors to tourists from 15th July 2025
On 15th July 2025, Lemala Lodges and camps opened yet another luxury lodge in the Ngorongoro, Tanzania.
Lemala Osonjoi Lodge is a new luxury lodge in the Ngorongoro Conservation area, Tanzania.
Located about 205 kilometers north of the city of Arusha, this amazing lodge is named after the Osonjoi trees that characterize the area. For the neighboring Masai community, Osonjoi trees have both symbolic and medicinal significance.
The lodge echoes the style and ethos of her sister lodges in existing Tanzania; Lemala Kuria Hills, Mpingo Ridge and Lemala Nanyukie with the same focus on space, guest comfort and the same commitment to preserving our natural environment.
Located strategically near Lemala gate on the quiet, eastern part of the Ngorongoro crater rim, Lemala Osonjoi offers its guests easy access to the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater, which is a haven for some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife.
Guests staying at Lemala Osonjoi Lodge enjoy the privilege of being amongst the first to arrive – and the last to leave the game rich, eastern quadrant of the Ngorongoro Crater Floor.
It only takes 10 to 15 minutes to descend down to the crater floor from Osonjoi lodge, making this exclusive lodge ideal for early morning and late afternoon game drives, thus allowing guests to experience the magic of the crater without the big crowds that can often be witnessed here.
This also makes Osonjoi the perfect lodge for early risers or photographers who are searching for ideal light conditions in the morning or evening during their Tanzania safari.
While staying at Lemala Osonjoi lodge, guests can also enjoy guided nature walks in the company of a Masai guide and an armed ranger.
Lemala Osonjoi Lodge consists of 20 luxurious guest suites. 16 of them are standard suites, while the rest are 2 x 2 bedroom suites, all spaced well apart for maximum privacy. The lodge boasts of some of the most spacious and airy suites in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Each can accommodate one king-size bed. The Ngorongoro highlands can become quite cold at night. For that reason, extra luxuries like hot water bottles, warm winter weight duvets and slow burning wood stoves are found in each room to ensure that each guest enjoys a cozy night’s sleep.
The two bed room suites come in handy for families and friends while triple rooms can be arranged on request.
Other room features include an oversized bed, spacious lounge, and generous bathroom with double vanity, indoor and outdoor showers and free-standing bathtub.
At Lemala Osonjoi Lodge, you will also find a comfortable lounge and bar, outdoor viewing deck with a roaring fire and access to an indoor heated swimming pool.
In house drinks, Wi-Fi and laundry services are included as part of your stay at the lodge.
Another key amenity that you will find at Lemala Osonjoi Lodge is a Spa.
The spa suite which is nestled among the trees offers Osonjoi’s guests a secluded location to indulge themselves, while being treated by expert therapists who are dedicated to enhancing well-being and helping guests to unwind amongst the views of forest.
How to get there:
The drive from Arusha city to Lamala Osonjoi Lodge takes about 4 and a half hours. The lodge also enjoys easy access from the neighboring parks or Lake Manyara and Tarangire, and one can fly to the Manyara airstrip, perched above a towering escarpment wall, followed by a drive to the lodge.
At Essenia safaris, we offer luxury, privately guided safaris in Tanzania and you can let us know if you wish to stay in this lodge during your safari with us.
